Not-For-Profit & Independent Since 1896. Every penny of profit directly benefits course material scholarships! While many college bookstores are operated by for-profit corporations, The University Co-op is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and operated by a board of directors comprised of students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas at Austin. Founded in 1896, The Co-op’s original mission was to address the rising cost of course materials for Longhorn students. Staying true to the original mission and vision set by future UT President, Dr. William J. Battle, today the Co-op envisions a world where the cost of course materials never prevents a single student from attending or graduating from The University of Texas at Austin.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

  • The University Co-op has made a $12 million commitment to support UT students. Funded by profits and donations, we provide stipends for books and supplies to more than thousands of students each semester. The cycle of Longhorns investing in Longhorns continues.

  • The longest committed collegiate store dedicated to the students of the University of Texas at Austin.

  • Since 1896, nearly every Longhorn has passed through our doors. From graduation to game days and t-shirts to textbooks, we’ve been an integral part of the Longhorn experience and tradition, touching every important moment in the Longhorn life.
